Plain-language summary
The Argyll website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or tracking technologies, so there is no cookie banner. Some pages include YouTube videos. A video loads from YouTube only when you press play, and YouTube may then use cookies under its own terms.
1. About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how the Argyll group uses cookies and similar storage and access technologies on argylldev.com and associated web pages (the “Website”).
It should be read together with the Argyll Group Privacy Notice and the Website Terms of Use. Where a specific platform, application, customer portal, API or hosted service has a separate cookie or privacy notice, that notice will apply to that service.
2. The Argyll companies
The Website presents information about the following companies:
Argyll Development Holdings Ltd, company number SC888649;
Argyll Energy Development Ltd, company number SC759139; and
Argyll Data Development Ltd, company number SC759203.
All three companies are registered in Scotland and have their registered office at: Killellan Farm, Toward, Argyll, PA23 7UJ, United Kingdom.
Argyll Data Development Ltd provides the Website’s technical hosting, administration, maintenance, security and management services. The relevant Argyll company remains responsible for the content, activities, products or services attributed to it.
3. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on a computer, phone, tablet or other device when a person visits a website. Cookies may recognise a device, remember settings, maintain a secure session or provide information about how a website is used.
The same legal rules also apply to other technologies that store information on, or read information from, a device, such as local storage, pixels and embedded content. In this policy, references to “cookies” include these similar technologies.
4. The legal rules that apply
The use of cookies is governed principally by the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, as amended (“PECR”). Where cookie information is personal data, the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 also apply.
Except where a legal exception applies, consent is needed before information is stored on, or read from, your device.
5. Cookies the Website uses
The Website itself does not set any cookies, and does not store or read information on your device using local storage or similar technologies.
The Website does not use:
analytics or performance measurement tools;
advertising or remarketing technologies;
social-media tracking pixels or plug-ins; or
third-party scripts, fonts or content that load automatically when you open a page.
The Website’s fonts, images, videos and documents are served from Argyll’s own server.
6. YouTube videos
Some pages include videos hosted on YouTube, a service provided by Google. Each video is shown as a still picture with a play button and the note “Plays from YouTube when you press play”. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play.
When you press play, the video is loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced address (youtube-nocookie.com). From that point, YouTube receives information about your device, such as your IP address, and may store cookies or similar information on your device under Google’s own privacy and cookie terms. By pressing play, you choose to load the video on these terms.
If you do not want YouTube to receive this information, do not press play. The words that accompany each video are shown on the page.
7. Forms and server logs
Using a form on the Website does not involve cookies. Form submissions are emailed to Argyll and are not stored on the web server. How we handle information you submit is explained in the Argyll Group Privacy Notice.
Like all web servers, ours records each request it receives, including your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type, for security and to keep the Website running. This does not use cookies or store anything on your device. These logs are normally deleted within 90 days.
8. Links to other websites
The Website links to other websites, such as argylldata.ai. Those websites have their own cookie and privacy notices, which apply when you visit them.
9. Your browser settings
You can delete or block cookies, including any set by YouTube, through your browser or device settings. Browser controls commonly allow you to delete cookies, block all or selected cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear cookies when the browser closes.
10. Changes to this Cookie Policy
If we change the Website in a way that uses cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy before doing so. Where consent is needed, we will ask for it before any non-essential cookie is used. The effective date at the top of this policy shows when it was last changed.
